  The BROWSE directory contains PNG format versions of the images
provided in the DATA directory in PDS format. However, the eight
individual filter images which reside in eight separate PDS files have
been assembled into one single full frame 1024 x 1024 pixel browse
image. Both versions have the same resolution, but while the original
images in PDS format have 10 bit pixel depth, the PNG images have only
8 bit. They are linearly stretched so that white is one standard
deviation above the mean brightness and black is one standard deviation
below (but not below zero). Mean and standard deviation are computed
ignoring saturated pixels and 64 lines at the top which were inevitably
corrupted in the process of dark correction.
  Browse image file names are based on the file names of the data
products that they represent, just with filter ID (7th character) 0
instead of 1 to 8 and extension .PNG instead of .IMG. The subdirectory
structure of the BROWSE directory mirrors the one of the DATA directory.
