SPICAM_UVMODE_DESC.TXT ===================== The UV data consists of 5 bands selected on the CCD. Each band can be one physical row of the CCD or several physical rows by on chip binning processing (selectable by telecommand). See the SPICAM_DATAFILE.TXT document for more details. Several operating mode were used for the observations on the Mars Express spacecraft. The operating mode refered in this description file are used in data product labels as values of the keyword INSTRUMENT_MODE_ID. The values that can be used are indicated in CAPITALS in this file. In the ALIGN operating mode, each band is one physical CCD row. The ALIGN operating mode allows to have a complete image of the CDD during the observation by moving the position of the first band read at each measurement. Depending on the duration of the observation, several complete images can be obtained. The initial position (at time t0) of the first band is Y0. At time T0+1, the position of the first band becomes Y0+4, at time T0+2, Y0+8, ...at time T0+p Y0+p*4. In the BINNING operating mode, each band is a binning of BIN physical CCD rows. Possible values for BIN are 2, 4, 8, 16, 32. The BINNINGP operation mode corresponds with a progressive binning for each band. This means that the binning is different for each band. 1 st band, BIN = 2 physical CCD rows 2 nd band, BIN = 4 physical CCD rows 3 td band, BIN = 8 physical CCD rows 4 th band, BIN = 16 physical CCD rows 5 th band, BIN = 32 physical CCD rows In the BINNING and BINNINGP operating mode, the position of the first band in physical pixel is Y0 , and the position of the second band is Y0 + BIN, etc.. ---------------------------- [ [ BAND 2 [ ---------------------------- Y1 = Y0 + BIN [ BIN rows [ BAND 1 [ Y0 ---------------------------- In these modes, the Y0 position is fixed.
