PDS_VERSION_ID = 3 RECORD_TYPE = STREAM RELEASE_ID = 0001 REVISION_ID = 0000 OBJECT = TEXT PUBLICATION_DATE = 2004-09-29 NOTE = "Description of the OMEGA instrument" END_OBJECT = TEXT END The OMEGA experiment consists in two sub-units: a push-broom visible imaging spectrometer and a whisk-broom near IR imaging spectrometer The visible spectrometer acquires simultaneously from 16 to 128 pixels in a line. In the nominal mode, each pixel is observed at 96 wavelengths from 0.364 µm to 1.070 µm. In the high resolution mode, there are 144 wavelengths over the same range The IR spectrometer obtains one single full sectrum during each acquisition period. There are two independent spectrometer channels, each covering 128 wavelengths, from 0.926 µm to 2.695 µm (C channel) and from 2.527 µm to 5.089 µm (L channel). A flat scanning mirror in front of the primary telescope scans across a FOV of 2.2° (16 pixel scan mode) to 8.8° (128 pixel scan mode) More detailed information can be obtained in the file "INSTRUMENT.CAT"
