END_OBJECT = TEXT END There are 4 main components to the document section: 1) DOCINFO.TXT - This document 2) Bibliography directory, contains a compilation of relevant references. 3) DISR Calibration Documents, is critical and is expounded upon below. 4) DISR Supporting Documents directory contains Guides, Manuals and background information (also outlined below). The Calibration Documents are subdivided into 9 major categories, one for each of the eight DISR sub-instruents: 1) Imagers, 2) Infrared Spectrometers, 3) Side Looking Imager Strips, 4) Solar Aureole Cameras, 5) Sun Sensor, 6) Surface Science Lamp, 7) Violet Photometers and, 8) Visible Spectrometers; plus a directory for the calibration standard documentation. Thus, for example, the three imagers of varying resolution and look angle (namely the HRI, MRI and SLI) are explored in detail in the imager Calibration Report. All information necessary to reduce the data are included within the approporiate calibration report. The following table lists the instruments included in each calibration report: 1) Images: All three imaging cameras, namely the HRI, MRI and SLI. 2) Infrared: Both up and down looking infrared spectorometers, namely ULIS and DLIS. 3) Solar Aureole: All four channels of the solar aureole camera. 4) Sun Sensor: Information relating to the Sun Sensor instrument. 5) Surface Science Lamp: Information relating to the Surface Science Lamp illumination system. 6) Violet: Both the up and down looking violet photometers, namely the ULV and DLV. 7) Violet Flux: The Flux for the violet photometer system, both for the ULV and DLV. 8) Visible: Both the up and down looking visible spectrometers, namely the ULVS and DLVS. In addition to the 8 calibration reports, there is a final category of calibration documents called the calibration standard. This last category is further subdivided into the cal standard review, integrating sphere homogeneity and dark current. 9) Calibration Standard... CALIBRATION_STANDARD_REVIEW : Information about the lamps used for the labratory calibration. INTEGRATING_SPHERE_HOMOGENEITY : Information about the Integrating Sphere used for the labratory calibration. DARK_CURRENT : Documents the procedure for determining the CCD dark current for a given dataset. The DISR_SUPPORTING_DOCUMENTS directory contains guides, manuals and other background information about the instrument, mission and data volume. The six subdirectories contain: 1) The DISR Archive Data Users' Guide which provides information about interperting the archived data. 2) The Experimenter to Archive Interface Control Document (EAICD) which describes the data volume and how it was archived. 3) Experiment User's Manual, describes detailed information about the use of the DISR instrument. 4) The DISR dataset header description document, which provides information about the header fields associated with each data file. 5) Excerpts from ESA publication SP-1177 (August 1997) describing the intended mission, instrument, and anticipated sunlight penetration model. 6) The Space Science Revew paper from 1999, which describes the DISR instrument and mission.
