Description this is a discretionary time proposal to try observe three of the highest rotational lines, 0-0 s(24), s(25), and s(29), in orion irc2 peak 1 with the sws aot02. in our aot01 full grating scan of this object we have detected over 80 h2 lines, including a 2 sigma (0.18 jy) detection of 0-0s(25), which appears to be five times stronger than expected from the degree of excitation of the lower energy lines. we like to reobserve this line to see if the highest levels (j>25) may be populated by a distinct mechanism, e.g., through h2 gas phase formation. if confirmed, we like to also observe s(24) and the highest h2 rotational line s(29).

Mission Description The Infrared Space Observatory (ISO) was the world's first true orbiting infrared observatory. Equipped with four highly-sophisticated and versatile scientific instruments, it was launched by Ariane in November 1995 and provided astronomers world-wide with a facility of unprecedented sensitivity and capabilities for a detailed exploration of the Universe at infrared wavelengths.
