Dick,

Attached please find the operations log for the MEX Bistatic Radar
(BSR) experiment that was conducted at DSS-14, on 23 February (DOY
054).  Very strong X-band (but weaker S-band) echoes were returned
for this experiment.  The S-band LCP ADC Amplitude continued to be
irratic while the antenna was on point.  Also, there were problems
with executing the calibration procedures, resulting in several of
the steps having to be repeated (either entirely or in part).

  I have cleared space on rsops2 for the playback.  I wanted to make
  sure the 2010/051 data were safely backed up to DVD before removing
  the disk files.  I took copy 2 of the 051 DVDs home with me last
  night, so am ready for 055.

  So far, that seems to be a real-time problem.  The data from 041 and
  051 look normal when they get to STanford.  Thanks for keeping an eye
  on this.

  I see this in the NMC logs also.  It seems that this all went more
  smoothly when we had specific commands in a briefing message.  I'm
  beginning to fear that the operators may not be able to plug quickly
  into BSR experiment mode and they try several commands before finding
  the one that works.  The worry is that something that appears to
  work in real time may not be the RIGHT choice, possibly leaving the
  system in a configuration that was not the one we calibrated.

  Thanks, Gene (and Danny).  I don't see another MEX BSR on the
  DSN schedule until 16 April, when we'll have to look harder to find
  the echoes.  Then there may be one a week for six weeks (mostly
  on weekends ... sorry).
