The Y-factor this past weekend was only about 4.2 dB compared with 11.4 dB on S-RCP (see attached PDF). Do you know what is causing this and whether any improvement is expected? The experiments in July (2009/184, 185, 193, 199) all seemed to be normal. The new noise reduces our sensitivity by a factor of about 4 on S-Band. That's a lot when our echoes are weak to begin with. And would you classify the data as degraded or complete >outage? There has been SEVERE degradation of S-LCP on every experiment since 2009/226 -- for the entire observation in each case (including both pre-cal and post-cal). The data collected on 2009/199 were OK. I have not had a chance to look at the data from 2009/291 yet, but I'm guessing they will be similar. Something happened between day 199 and day 226 that has reduced the net sensitivity on S-LCP by a factor of 3-4. If I were to make a guess it would be that a backup LNA was swapped in; but that sort of change is usually temporary, not for 3 months.
