Introduction This volume contains the RAW data of the AMIE instrument from the LUNAR PHASE of the SMART-1 mission. RAW data means level 2 data on the CODMAC scale, i.e. edited data corrected for telemetry errors, also referred to as Experimental Data Record (EDR). Each AMIE product contains one filter image. Basic geometry and illumination informa- tion is provided in the label of each image. More comprehensive information is provided in the table `GEO_MOON.LBL'/`GEO_MOON.TAB' in the `INDEX' directory. The AMIE products on this volume are the exact products released by the SMART-1 project. Supporting documentation and file labels con- form to the Planetary Data System Standards, Version 3.7, Jet Propul- sion Laboratory (JPL) document JPL D-7669. Information about the SMART-1 mission, the AMIE instrument, and this dataset can be found in the `CATALOG' and `DOCUMENT' directories. Volume format The volume is made available online via the Planetary Science Archive (PSA) on the world wide web at http://www.rssd.esa.int/psa 3. File format Each full CCD AMIE image is split up in eight filter images. Each filter image is contained in one archive data file with the file name extension `.IMG'. Each file starts with an attached PDS label header. The label is ASCII text made up of 80 byte long lines comprising a carriage return character (ASCII 13) in the 79 byte and a line feed character (ASCII 10) in the 80 byte. There are always 256 such label lines followed by first a browse image of 128 x 128 one byte pixels and then the actual image data in binary format. Some more details on the file format are given in `DATASET.CAT'. A comprehensive descrip- tion of the PDS labels is provided in the EAICD in the `DOCUMENT' directory. 4. Volume contents The files in this volume are organized in one top-level directory with several subdirectories. The following table shows the structure and contents of these directories.
