RSR open-loop data was recorded and played back as follows: - X-band RCP, 2-way (X-band uplink) - RSR2B1 - 2 kHz, 16 bits - start = 15:45:00 - stop = 21:52:00 - SFDUs = 22,021 and: - S-band RCP, 2-way (X-band uplink) - RSR2A1 - 2 kHz, 16 bits - start = 15:45:00 - stop = 21:52:00 - SFDUs = 22,021 and: - X-band LCP, 2-way (X-band uplink) - no LCP signal and: - S-band LCP, 2-way (X-band uplink) - no LCP signal These data should now be available for you to query. NOTES: 1) due to a last-minute equipment failure at DSS-63, the track was switched to DSS-15 (which was already scheduled for MEX about 3 hours later) 2) DSS-15 cannot support simultaneous RCP and LCP, so only RCP data could be recorded 3) there was an occultation in the middle of this pass, so the data between ~16:59 and ~17:18 should be ignored 4) also, the subreflector was "fixed" through the occultation, from ~16:43 to ~17:17, but was moving otherwise (this might be of interest for future planning purposes, since there is some debate about whether "fixed" or "moving" is better for Radio Science experiments) Regards, Gene - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - From Daniel.S.Kahan-121461@jpl.nasa.gov Wed Apr 27 12:17:45 2005 Return-Path: Received: from nmta3.jpl.nasa.gov (nmta.jpl.nasa.gov [137.78.160.108]) by magellan.stanford.edu (8.11.7p1+Sun/8.11.7) with ESMTP id j3RJHjr20898 for ; Wed, 27 Apr 2005 12:17:45 -0700 (PDT) Received: from xmta3.jpl.nasa.gov (xmta3.jpl.nasa.gov [137.78.160.111]) by nmta3.jpl.nasa.gov (Switch-3.1.7/Switch-3.1.7) with ESMTP id j3RJHinH011439 for ; Wed, 27 Apr 2005 12:17:45 -0700 Received: from jpl.nasa.gov (eis-msg-065.jpl.nasa.gov [137.78.160.102]) by xmta3.jpl.nasa.gov (Switch-3.1.7/Switch-3.1.7) with ESMTP id j3RJHiqM029933 for ; Wed, 27 Apr 2005 12:17:44 -0700 Received: from [137.78.160.72] (Forwarded-For: [137.78.78.85]) by mailhost4.jpl.nasa.gov (mshttpd); Wed, 27 Apr 2005 12:17:44 -0700 From: Daniel S Kahan To: Dick Simpson 650-723-3525 Message-ID: <16c2f616a0c9.16a0c916c2f6@jpl.nasa.gov> Date: Wed, 27 Apr 2005 12:17:44 -0700 X-Mailer: iPlanet Messenger Express 5.2 HotFix 1.25 (built Mar 3 2004) MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Language: en Subject: Re: ODFs & TRK-2-34 X-Accept-Language: en Priority: normal Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Disposition: inline Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit X-Source-IP: eis-msg-065.jpl.nasa.gov [137.78.160.102] X-Source-Sender: Daniel.S.Kahan-121461@jpl.nasa.gov X-AUTH: Internal IP Content-Length: 1383 Status: RO > 240 is shown in Martin's logbook as "failed" - which can mean > a lot of things. Can you tell whether there are quality issues > from the RSR results you have in hand? Like TLM ON and/or > no S-band? My log shows that DSS-63 was originally scheduled, but then they changed to DSS-15, thus no LCP. Without LCP, this day is also probably not that helpful to us. > > It appears that SOME data from each of the above dates was > collected and processed at 60-s sampling; but I can't tell from > what I have available now whether it was even the correct > station. So after looking more closely, it seems the only other day we want is just 231, which you're looking for as well. I think I'm on the distribution list; if and when they put in on oscarx, I should be able to get it. So I'd say you still don't need to worry about 60-s stuff. > > >If you could send the TNFs, that would be great. For example, VOLUME_ID=0124 where there are only transient modulation sidebands drifting through the X-band OCI spectrum. I have heard nothing, so I will continue to assume that you do not want me to deliver these data. Now we have the opposite problem, as I move into the SCO experiments. On 2004/238 about 3 hours of SCO data were collected using DSS 63. So far as I can tell, these data are of good quality. The only problem is that the S-band carrier was turned off after about 2 hours. But there are still two hours during which we have X-RCP, X-LCP, S-RCP, and S-LCP. The Logbook shows this as "failed" and no VOLUME_ID has been assigned. What would you like me to do? On 2004/244 about 7 hours of SCO data were collected using DSS 15. We have only X-RCP and S-RCP because DSS 15 cannot receive four signals simultaneously. According to Gene Goltz and the DSN schedule, this was originally planned for DSS 63 but had to be changed very late because of equipment problems in Madrid. Except that we are limited to two signals, these data look very good. In fact, there is an occultation embedded within the SCO data (both ingress and egress). There is no entry in the Logbook for either DSS 63 or DSS 15 on this date; so there is also no VOLUME_ID. What would you like me to do? One possibility would be to reassign VOLUME_ID=0124 to the 2004/238 data. The volume numbering would be out of order, but at least the data would be in the archive. I believe there was at least one earlier VOLUME_ID that could be reused. Until I receive your instructions, I will create the MFT file, but I will set VOLUME_ID = -1. This means no set of archive files will be sent to Cologne (except in the Stanford 8.3 archive). Regards, Dick
