At about 15:34 (in the middle of the surface observations) the S-RCP level suddenly dropped another 10 dB. From that point to the end of the post-cal measurements, the desired signals were barely discernible from residual noise in the electronics. The records of real-time monitoring by Gene Goltz and Danny Kahan show no unusual behavior and a post-cal that should have been normal. It is not clear why the recorded digital data (at both 25 and 100 kHz) is so different. Since the S-RCP signal was already expected to be weak (incidence angles 32-45 deg favor RCP echoes), these S-RCP data will likely not be useful for science; since both RCP and LCP are needed to derive dielectric constant, there will be no S-Band dielectric constants from this experiment. A microwave switch failure at 16:42 (DR M-105802) prevented completion of the S-LCP ground post-calibration. LCP receiving/recording was carried out using WVSR1 since RSR1 was still down for disk repairs after data errors were discovered during the BSR experiment on 2010/142. No artifacts of the WVSR use are obvious in the quick-look data from this experiment.
