Not only was the station unable to begin preparations for the experiment, but Radio Science Systems Group (RSSG) personnel at JPL were unable to communicate reliably with the Radio Science Receivers (RSRs). The problems were resolved about 06:00 UTC; DSS 43 and RSSG were able to complete an abbreviated set of bistatic radar observations. The ground pre-calibrations were reduced to a simple set of measurements to set RSR gain and attenuator levels. X-band echoes were seen and recorded between about 06:08 and 06:44 (approximately 40 percent of the originally scheduled observing time); but there is some uncertainty about the configuration of the X-Band equipment (both X-Band RSRs appear to have been capturing X-RCP until the second, post-BSR, mini-calibration). S-RCP echoes are visible in quick-look plots; S-LCP echoes cannot be seen, but they were expected to be much weaker. The full ground post-calibration was completed.
