The noise floor in the pre- and post-calibrations is about 6 dB higher than it should be. In looking back over recent experiments, it appears this condition has been true for the past 1-2 months (S-LCP was noisy on 2009/226 but normal on 2009/199). This experiment was intended to fit into a shorter DSN pass than normal (2 hours of ground pre-calibration, 3 hours of spacecraft tracking, and 1 hour of ground post-calibration). Only 4 hours 40 minutes was available, and the ground activities were adjusted so that the ground post-calibration (reduced to 50 minutes) began as soon as the surface reflections ended (14:10). However, all spacecraft signals ended at 13:46, meaning that surface reflections were collected for only 39 minutes rather than the nominal 65. The reason for the truncation is not known, but may lie with ESOC software, which is sometimes unpredictable in the face of BSR passes less than 6 hours long.
