The surface echoes are strong and these data should be excellent for determining surface properties along the first MEX BSR specular point ground track. Anomalies --------- There are no S-RCP data because the maser on that channel failed the previous day (DR G106461 documented the data loss for 2006/022). For unknown reasons the X-RCP noise diode was enabled twice during the first mini-cal, and the X-LCP diode was not enabled; RS observers caught the error and the X-LCP diode was enabled by repeating two of the steps in the procedure, but the surface echo was already visible in the bandpass. The S-LCP noise diode was accidently enabled during the configuration for the post-cal and was not disabled until the next-to-last step in the procedure. Thus there is only AMB+ND data (no time with AMB only) during the post-cal, and it will be possible to determine the system temperature only indirectly.
